HughesNet Internet Contracts and Data Caps

  • HughesNet requires a 24-month service contract for internet service.

  • Advantages of signing a contract with HughesNet include access to the internet in remote areas, promotional rates for a portion of the contract, and bundle savings.

  • Disadvantages of the contract include a two-year commitment with relocation penalties, missing out on better promotions from other providers, and potential plan cost increases after promotional periods.

  • HughesNet offers internet plans with monthly data allowances ranging from 15 GB to 100 GB to accommodate various household needs.

  • To save money in the long term, customers can purchase equipment for a one-time payment of $249.99 instead of leasing it for $14.99 per month.

Data caps vary based on the connection type

  • If you exceed your monthly data allowance, HughesNet will reduce your internet speed to 1-3 Mbps for the rest of the month.

  • After that, you will need Data Tokens for purchase to restore or prevent speed reduction.

  • Data Tokens are available in different amounts and costs: 3 GB for $9, 5 GB for $15, 10 GB for $30, and 25 GB for $75.
